Revealed in october 2005, the MMS 8008 Process has been 3 shift produced since 2007 and has become mature in 2008 with one workshop and three PERFORM MMS 8008 range machines implemented in St Nazaire Ville site.
From then on, all A320 lower shell central panels have been mechanically machined.
The new regulations such as REACH* reflect the International Institutions strong will to reduce or suppress chemical substances use. That lets us foresee an exellent future for clean technologies such as MMS 8008 process.
This technology has several great advantages regarding flexibility and productivity :
FLEXIBILITY :
- Each machine enables the mechanical machining of various dimension fuselage panels. 3 machine sizes (MMS 8008 S; MMS 8008 M and MMS 8008 L) ensure the overall treatment of double-curvature panels that constitute tourism, business class, long and medium haul flight and carrier appartuses.

PRODUCTIVITY :
- PERFORM MMS 8008 machines reduce the required cycle time from 2 to 5 compared to conventional chemical machining.
Every machine follows a 3 shift production (24h/24) cycle, 5 days/7 depending on the production site.
- Medium availability rates go from 96 et 100%.
- Medium capability reaches 1,33 for all panels.
*REACH European Regulation on registration, evaluation and restricitions. It has entered into force on June 1st 2007. Its main objectives areto protect humain health and environment against risks generated by chemical products, to promote new options in terms of methodes and tests, to maintain the free circulation of substances within the internal market and reinforce competitiveness.
